Pebbleword
Pebbleword is a relaxing word puzzle game for iPhone. Swipe across smooth letter pebbles to find the hidden words, watch the pebbles sink as you use them, and travel through painted river scenes chapter by chapter. Every real word counts, there's no timer, and it plays offline.
Questions? Answers to the most common ones are below. If yours isn't here, email support@foxdrobe.com — we usually reply within two working days.
Playing
How do I play?
Press on a pebble and drag across pebbles that touch up, down, left or right to spell a word, then lift your finger. Words can bend and even run backwards, but they never go diagonally. Drag back over the last pebble to undo it. The hidden words are the empty slots at the top; find them all to clear the level.
What do the numbers on the pebbles mean?
Each number is how many more hidden words use that pebble. When you find a word, the numbers along it go down; a pebble at zero sinks away. Every hidden word has exactly one path on the board, so the numbers are always exact.
It didn't take my word. Why?
Any real English word you can trace counts — if it isn't one of the hidden words, it's a bonus word and goes in the jar. Words need at least three letters and must use pebbles that touch up, down, left or right. British and American spellings both count. If you think a real word was missed, email us and we'll add it.
I'm stuck. What helps?
A Hint shows the next letter of a word and lights its pebble on the board. Ripple reveals five letters at once. You start with free hints, get one more in each daily gift, can buy more with coins, or watch an optional video for a free hint. There's no timer and no lives, so you can never lose a level.
Can I type instead of swiping?
Yes. Tap the keyboard button on the board to type any word you can see. It follows the same rules.
How many levels are there?
Two thousand levels in 20-level chapters, each with its own river scene, and the journey keeps going after that. Boards grow from 3×3 to 5×5 and every tenth level from 20 is a Tough level with bonus coins.
When does the daily puzzle change?
At midnight on your iPhone. It opens at level 8. Solve it to grow your streak. Missed a day this month? Tap it in the calendar to play it and mend your streak. You can turn on a gentle evening reminder in Settings.
Can I see what a word means?
Yes. Tap any word you've found to open its meaning in the dictionary built into iOS.
Coins and ads
How do I earn coins?
Every cleared level pays coins (more for later and Tough levels, plus a bonus for clearing without helpers), as do the daily puzzle, each finished chapter, the bonus jar and the daily gift. There are no in-app purchases.
When do ads appear?
Ads keep Pebbleword free. There's never an ad before or during a board. A full-screen ad can appear only after you finish a board — at most after every third board, at least four minutes apart, and none in your first eight levels or first day. A small banner is on the Home screen only. Videos are always optional, the reward is shown on the button, and watching one also gives you 20 minutes without full-screen ads. If you turn the game's sound off, video ads start muted too.
Progress and privacy
Where is my progress saved?
On your iPhone only, after every word. There's no account. Deleting the app deletes your progress.
How do I change my privacy choices?
Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK), use Settings → Privacy choices in the app. To change tracking permission, use iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Read the full privacy policy.
